Week 45: Dona Ana and Las Colinas Wards, Las Cruces, NM

This week I got my daughter (the sister I'm training)! Her name is sister Harper and she is from Centerville Utah! So far all of my companions have been from Utah haha. She is super sweet and a hard worker.  It's been fun just talking to a bunch of people on the streets!

A highlight was talking to this guy Roy. We saw him while knocking on someone's door, so we walked over and started talking to him.  He's read some of the Book of Mormon before and said that all the members he has talked to before have been really nice. We gave him a Book of Mormon and set up a time to meet the next day.

Next day comes along and we show up with a member and he has two of his kids there, his daughter's boyfriend and a random cousin kid. They were all interested and we gave them Book of Mormons. It was cool teaching a family, since I've never really done that so far.  Roy is super cool! He already read up to 1 Nephi chapter 2 and we only invited him to read the introduction.

Things have been going well, it's just very tiring training someone haha.

Love yall!

Week 44: Dona Ana and Las Colinas Wards, Las Cruces, NM

We did some service this week at one member's house. We shoveled rock and put it in wheelbarrows then dumped it. In the heat of NM!! I was so exhausted and was sweating a lot. Also  my noodle arms were not ready for that.

We visited our friend John in the hospital, and it was funny cause turns out our friend Laura was also in the same one with her new baby! We saw her husband Evan and it was a funny not so coincidence.

We oymed a lot. Which means we opened our mouths and walked around talking to everyone. Met some cool people, and taught our friend Jason who is a Mason brother. Still not super clear about what they do exactly.

We made a music video this week and on Thursday while we were recording the audio with the SMLs, the social media leaders, me and another sister got calls from our sister training leader trainers. They called us to be trainers next transfer!!! I'm super excited because I have been wanting to train my entire time here. Haha. I am staying in the area though. My new companion is Sister Harper.

We went on exchanged Friday and I went to the Spanish area. We played volleyball with the ward that evening which was fun.

Saturday, we recorded our music video with our district. Apparently the video footage is super shaky, so hopefully they can salvage some. It was super hot and a lot of bugs, so it was fun trying not to move while bugs are crawling on you. Hahah

We've just been saying goodbye to a lot of members and getting pictures with them. It's been fun. We will be doing that tonight as well, and then tomorrow I'm going with another Sister for a day.

Anyways...........spiritual thought ish:

My whole mission so far I have wanted to move areas, train, and have more baptisms then I've had, but nothing that I have wanted has worked out. It's good training for life because often my wants are not what the lord needs for me. I've realized I have needed this time to grow and be more humble and now I'm training. It's really awesome how God knows Me! Alexa Crofts and He knows you ________! Never forget it!

I will miss sister Greenfield but I am very excited to train.

Love yall!

Week 43: Dona Ana and Las Colinas Wards, Las Cruces, NM

Fourth of July was pretty chill, we did normal work, but had a mission fhe early. I just love the new mission president and his wife!! I just really connect with them, and when we call and ask questions, they ask about our day and our friends and I know they really do care.

Also, we are in the works to make a district music video, hopefully I can send that in my email next week and we can finish making it.

It was funny, we went over to our friend Sister Billete's house, and we went over to say goodbye, cause she's leaving and we stayed there for like 3 hours cleaning! Haha it was fun and it's always nice to do service.

My companion and another sister had to leave at 4 Wednesday to drive to El paso for interviews, so I went on a brief exchange with her comp, Sister Morgan. It was fun! One of the members we visited said she had a dream where a previous missionary married her, haha we were cracking up about it. It's nice to see different parts of Las Cruces I don't normally see.

We met our new president and his wife, the Edwards and they are just so amazing and understanding. He said that I will be transferred soon, so that's interesting I feel like he will move people around more than the other president.

We had a lesson with this drunk guy, and we asked him to pray and ask if the Book of Mormon is true, and we were meaning for him to do that after we left. But while I was mid talking, he prays and after he was crying, but I have no idea if it's the spirit of the alcohol. Fun times. 🤪

So yeah that's about it for me, if you guys have any inspirational talks for me to read, please send them my way!

Love Sister Crofts

Week 42: Dona Ana and Las Colinas Wards, Las Cruces, NM

A good week with a LOT of cancelations. But we had a lot of good member lessons, with a lot of laughs?

We had lessons with the Barentines and they are so funny. We actually have dinner with them tonight.

One of our awesome members is basically a professional cookie decorator and she gave us royal icing and cookies to decorate. We also went over to their house to dinner the day we had Panda Express for lunch..and they had Panda for dinner?

We went to a small town of a little over 300 people in it. It was a strange town like out of a movie.

We met this one family and while we were there the dad had a seizure, and we were just kind of like what the--? We wondered what we could do to help but we just left.

Had a good lesson with this guy, Gabriel, and he was asking questions like, "why don't you drink coffee, do you believe in the trinity?" It turned put really good though and he believes in the Godhead too!

We had exchanges this week and it was awesome!

We also met our new mission president over zoom! He's super nice and I'm so excited to have him and his wife.

We met with our friend Jeanne and she told us she's not interested in meeting with us anymore, but it was a good lesson and I felt so sad that she was saying that. I know that this gospel is the path for everyone. We ended with inviting her to pray and ask what God wants her to do.

We had a really funny lesson with the Msonda family. We taught them the Ten Commandments with the hand signs amd turns out one of the signs meant worshipping the devil, or along those lines. Haha, we told them that it does not mean that to us! We were all laughing

I love the members in our wards. They are awesome. I've also noticed this week that there are a lot of crazy people in New Mexico too haha. Makes things interesting

Jesus Christ's church is truly the only way to lasting happiness. Satan knows that so well. He will do whatever it takes to stop us from knowing and following the truth. Most of the time it's little things that slowly chip away our testimony.

I really love the scripture Jacob 4:10: "Wherefore, brethren, seek not to counsel the Lord, but to take counsel from his hand. For behold, ye yourselves know that he counseleth in wisdom, and in justice, and in great mercy, over all his works."

Often times we rely on ourselves way too much (I'm speaking from experience haha). When it comes to our testimony, if we let our own opinions rule us or the world, we are not seeking counsel from Christ. As we rely on Christ and put our focus on Him, we will be able to see that His wisdom is the best and He is the one who will tell is us what is true and good.

Also, God doesn't want us to walk blindly, he wants us to ask and know! I just really like this scripture, and it has applied this week.

Love yall, happy Independence day! I'm grateful I get to serve in the land of the free and home of the brave!

In God I trust!

Love Sister Crofts
