Week 41: Dona Ana and Las Colinas Wards, Las Cruces, NM

We worked at the soup kitchen this week! It was fun!

Funny story, a while ago we talked to this guy Dave Hammersly and his friends while they were sitting on a bench and they all seemed drunk/high. Gave them Book of Mormons and got their numbers. We forgot about them for a couple of weeks. Then the Elders find him, pass him off to us, and we met with him this week and taught him! Turns out he's not homeless and he has a wife. A very interesting fellow, but he's already read all the way to 3rd Nephi and he believes it haha.

Then I had exchanges Wednesday, I went to the Spanish area for a day and communicated with this deaf couple by writing on sticky notes.

We also met some cool people, and some lady who asked us a question and every time we responded, she would say "wrong" haha it was kinda funny, but also very annoying.

We found some new people, hopefully they are interested in continuing to meet!

Since we drive around, there are lots of awkward moments where we pull over and ask if they want to learn more. I've been learning to never put aside a generous thought. Talk to that random guy walking his dog, throwing out a chair in the trash, why not? Could be the spirit telling you. I'm not perfect at it at all, but it's a work in progress.

We talked to this guy yesterday while he was throwing out trash and he was very flirty but, hey, maybe he's interested in hopefully just the gospel ๐Ÿ˜ถ๐Ÿ˜…

We had basically a full day zone conference Friday with the whole South of the mission. I got to see my MTC companion sister Baxter! We basically just said goodbye to pres. I got to hug him which was nice

So, our friend Larry again. We went to another wards baptism with him cause he wanted to go. He liked it, but he is still paranoid about people wanting to kill him. We also called him yesterday morning to remind him about church, and he got worked up and hung up on us. Hopefully he comes around.

We had our friend Liana come to church Sunday! We are not sure how she felt about it because she forgot to take her ADHD medication and was very distracted by all the loud noises and such from the children๐Ÿ˜… haha, but I'll think she'll come again next week.

It was a good week. I find that I'm not necessarily physically tired, but definitely mentally tired a lot.

Love yall!! I know that the church of Jesus Christ is God church on the earth. And because it is, it provides us the only way to have true and lasting happiness in this life. I firmly believe that.

Week 40: Dona Ana and Las Colinas Wards, Las Cruces, NM

 Hey y'all!

Happy Father's Day to any fathers on this email!

We had some super good lessons with our friend Yolanda, and when we talked about the word of wisdom, we helped her throw away her tea and she's been really good at not drinking coffee. She's just amazing, didn't go to church Sunday though, so I hope she's okay.

We met with, Florida, the cute old lady again, but it was a SUPER weird visit. She was talking about how she had these stalkers hurting her and stealing from her and all these weird things. When we left I was very disturbed, but our fellowship just said she had dementia. It was sad she wasn't coherent.

We also met a few cute animals, some not pictured amd held some puppies and kittens.

We visit with some less actives and I tried to speak Portuguese to his Brazilian mother in law, it was fun.

Also as a missionary we often have people pour their entire heart out to us. It gives us lots of opportunities to mourn with those that mourn.

My personal study has been better this week, sometimes it's not good because I fall asleep. Which is not good, but is the truth.

I read an article about girl who was so worried about if she looked right and if what she said or did was right. It was just pride. I know for me when I am really self-conscious that's just me turning inward and being prideful when I could be turning to God.

We sang in sacrament meeting which was good.  "We sang Love is Spoken Here."

Love yall! Life's hard, very hard, but I know somehow all our trials are for our good.

Week 39: Dona Ana and Las Colinas Wards, Las Cruces, NM

 This week was good!

Our friend Jeanne is amazing! She came to church and plans on being a regular! Also, her dog peed on my foot but that was just kinda funny

We washed cute little Pomeranian dogs, fun, first time washing.

We stopped teaching Larry for the moment, we need to see if he's actually committed.

Had a lesson at the fire station.

We met a new friend Il iana! She is super sweet and from Boston, so she has a fun accent.

A lot of cool miracles have happened this week, just with the cool new people to teach that's been a big blessing!!

I love yall and I know God loves you more. There is always so much more we all can learn and it's cool cause God wants us to learn more!!

Week 38: Dona Ana and Las Colinas Wards, Las Cruces, NM

We had exchanges Tuesday this week and it was really good!! We had a great lesson with our friend Larry and talked about the priesthood. We invited him to pray about the Book of Mormon.

We did service for Sister Billette and she is just so awesome and funny.

Sister Cooley took us out for IHOP and she is also the best.

We had a pass off with this guy who was kind of contentious, but good thing we aren't teaching him anymore loll.

Met with the Roberts and it was super awesome amd spiritual. The spirit guides us when we visit them.

Yolanda is an ex Jehovah Witness and is looking for a church! She's super sweet and I'm excited to get to know her more

Larry is on date to be baptized! After he went to one of our friends baptisms, we picked a date for him! I've seem him change as we've met and it's been awesome.

We went to a funeral and baptism this weekend. There's also a funeral we are going to next weekend.

We ate a LOT of food Sunday!! I also got a blessing which was nice, it shows me that God loves me and cares about me.

Also transfer news, I'm staying. It'll be 7 transfers in this area. I have mixed feelings about it.

I love you guys and I'm proud of you all!
